Mindy
As an operations manger, you’ll find me doing the same thing, but something different every day, from managing the installation schedule, tracking inventory, and keeping our team’s tasks on schedule. Another important aspect of my job is getting involved with all the little day-to-day operations that keep the company growing and serving you. I have a background in a variety of industries with office management and acting as a liaison between departments. This gave me an appreciation for how companies operate similarly and differently across various businesses. This allowed me to advance in my overall career and professional skills. What I appreciate most about working at Modern Carpet and Flooring is that I consider the owner not just a boss, but a mentor. She harnessed my skills early on and has greatly contributed to my professional growth which led me into an operations role; something I never knew that I would love. Every day brings something new and different from working with our team to working with all the intricacies of the business. This keeps me on my toes and always intrigued and engaged for what’s next. I really enjoy the opportunity to not only utilize all my skills, but also develop new ones. In my free time you can find me playing the same music on repeat, reading and volunteering with friends. You can also find me attending another themed party with my crazy family, where the adults still participate in the kid’s games, whether we wanted to or not.
Kyle
I’m a 2nd generation wood flooring professional from southern Maine and a NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association) certified installer, sander, and refinisher. Attending the NWFA’s hands on and in-depth courses, as well as completing their extensive testing in St. Louis Missouri, has been one of the greatest experiences of my career. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the flooring industry to attend any of their nationwide schools as well as online courses. Growing up in Maine with an artist for a mom, and a hardwood refinisher for a dad greatly contributed to my passion for discussing flooring design and finding the right flooring to bring comfort, function, and beauty to each of my customer’s home. I truly enjoy the exploration and discovery process of finding customers their perfect fit for style and needs. Whether it’s high fashion or updating a simple bedroom, our showroom has something for everyone, which made the transition into my sales role smooth. Working at Modern Carpet and Flooring has been a breath of fresh air and has taught me a lot about the flooring sales process. The owners here are one of the kind genuine folks that take the time to listen and are always giving back to their employees, creating a real team-oriented environment. In my free time I enjoy playing disc golf, karaoke, and performing at a local theatre. I also enjoy refinishing wood products and in home design consulting work where I get to help others while also perfecting my craft.
Kelly
With a background in human services, I pride myself on building genuine connections with whom I’m working with. I believe that everyone has a unique story, and understanding other perspectives equips me to better meet the needs of my customers. I was fortunate to grow up getting my hands dirty during home renovation projects, metaphorically and literally. This early experience and guidance from my dad taught me the value of doing things the right way, the first time. Combined with a steady diet of home design shows with my family, I grew a deep appreciation for how thoughtful details can truly transform a space. As a flooring sales specialist, I love that I can utilize both my interpersonal skills and hands-on attitude. I continue to contribute to making every home a safe home, and with the right flooring, make that home warm and welcoming, too! I appreciate being with a company that operates from a position of goodwill and emphasize doing right by our customers. With a small team, we collaborate frequently to ensure our customers receive the best product and price for their flooring needs, as well as the information for its longevity. In addition to helping our customers, I’m excited to be part of the design community through the CEU classes we host, which fuels my passion for engaging with new concepts and continuous learning. Outside of work, my life is full of trying new things and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I’ll try almost anything at least once. When the weather is cooperative, you can find me outdoors: hiking, walking my dogs, and enjoying local markets and events. This is NY, of course, so most of the year, I’m inside rewatching crime shows, playing a variety of video games, and enjoying board games with friends.
